As you are aware, vintage Fender guitars and most of their various parts can be very valuable. The value of a specific guitar depends upon many things such as its age, condition, how many were manufactured, who owned it and whether or not it is original.
If I know anything about collecting guitars it is this. Don’t change anything on your vintage guitar such as the tuning heads or the bridge. Don’t even have your guitar refretted and certainly do not have it refinished. Any tampering will cause the value of your guitar to nosedive and will make collectors lose interest.
According to Tony Bacon in “The Ultimate Guitar Book,” in 1990 a Stratocaster once owned by Jimi Hendrix was sold for $375,000. The buyer was a Hendrix fan who ordinarily didn’t even collect guitars. There is always a customer for your vintage Fender guitar; it won't be hard to find him.
