Takamine Acoustic Guitars
The Takamine guitar company is relatively new, as guitar companies go, having its beginning in 1962. The name comes from a mountain near the factory in
Sakashita ,
Japan . In 1978 it was Takamine who introduced the electric acoustic guitar. Their reputation has rapidly become established. Takamine guitars presently enter the U.S.A. through the Kaman guitar company.
All of the budget Takamines, acoustic/electrics and acoustic electric cutaways are of plywood construction. The higher-end acoustic electrics have a solid wood top which is often cedar.
