Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitars
The first Fender Stratocaster electric guitar was created in 1954 and is the most popular solid guitar ever manufactured. Until 1958 they were all sunburst. (If you have one of those 54-57 Vintage Fender Stratocasters, you're sitting on a nice chunk of change!) In 1975 Fender added blond, white, natural, walnut and black. It was Leo Fender’s idea to create a simple guitar geared for mass-production rather than an instrument that was custom made for individuals. The “Strat” had three pickups rather than two. It also sported a vibrato arm and a contoured body for feel. Beginning in 1982 some Strats were produced in the
Far East . The “Strat” has survived with very few changes which says much for Fender’s original design. The company is very sensitive to changes because guitarists want the basic, original Fender Stratocaster electric guitar.
