Dean Acoustic Guitars
Though established in 1976, the Dean guitar company did not introduce acoustic guitars until 1998. By this time it had relocated to
Chicago . The company was named for Dean Zelinsky who had been making guitars when he was just seventeen years of age. Today Dean sells a very wide variety of guitars which are made in the
U.S. ,
Korea , the
Czech
Republic and
China . The company also offers basses, mandolins, banjos and amplifiers. Armadillo Enterprises purchased the Dean company in the late 90’s and included Dean Zelinsky. He is now in charge of all the
U.S. produced Dean guitars. A Dean guitar museum has opened in
Florida .
According to Ed Roman’s “History of Dean Guitars” on the web, “Dean today is a corporate mega-giant with sales rivaling Fender and Gibson. Dean builds “acoustic guitars with full electronics, custom inlays and beautiful finishes dirt cheap.”
