Ampeg Bass Guitar Amplifiers
Ampeg opened it's amplifier business in 1949. Their reputation quickly manifested itself, especially in the field of bass guitar amplifiers. During the 60’s and 70’s Ampeg was Fender's greatest challenger.
All of the amps manufactured before 1966 by Ampeg were tube amps. They began producing solidstate, amplifiers in 1966, the same year as Fender. Ampeg bass amplifiers continue to be first choice by many seasoned bass guitar players.
